Race Entry – 5K Fun Run

We have had a number of enquiries from people wishing to enter children aged 10 and under into the 5K run. Under the UK Athletics Guidelines, children under the age of 11 cannot run the race. We are however running a 5K Fun Run alongside the 5K for children aged 7-10. The rules are as follows. Children MUST run with an adult at all times, and they will be running at their own risk because we cannot cover them under the UK Athletics Guidelines Public Liability Insurance. They cannot enter on line but can enter on the day and the adult that is running with them will be required to sign a disclaimer. All the fun run 5K runners will be chip timed and receive a medal. If you have any questions regarding this please email the race organisers on andoverfoodbank10k@gmail.com. Those entering the fun run have to enter on […]

Inspirational firefighter, Steve Holder , Andover foodbank charity run

A HAMPSHIRE firefighter, who completed 20 marathons in a year as an emotional tribute to his late wife, will open Andover Foodbank’s 10k Lake Run. Steve Holder will set runners off during the second edition of the annual race, due to take place on Sunday, September 17. The Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service firefighter was chosen to open the race after his amazing charity challenge in 2016. The then 44-year-old ran 20 marathons across the UK, US and Europe to symbolise the 20 years of marriage to his wife Sharon, who died from cancer in 2015. Mr Holder also raised more than £10,000 in the process, which was shared between The Fire Fighters Charity, The Loss Foundation and Cancer Research UK. Talking about opening this year’s Lake Run, which he will also take part in, Steve said: “I’m honoured to come along and open and run in the race.” Andover […]
