Andover Lake Run 2018
We are delighted to announce plans for the Andover Lake Run 2018.
Last year we had nearly 500 runners for the three races and Steve Holder a Hampshire fireman and seasoned marathon runner opened the run, and ran the 10k. Our local mayor Councilor Carl Borg-Neal ran the 5k and then presented prizes donated by Alton Sports. Our main sponsor was Vitacress who handed out nutritious shots to all our competitors at the finish line.
It was a fantastic day and all the runners were well supported by family and friends. In addition, over £7,000 was raised for the foodbank.
This year the run will take place on Sunday 16th September. There will be a 10K and 5K race, 5K and 2K fun run. (Please note minimum entry age for 5K race is 11 years old – any children under the age of 11 must enter the fun run)
The runs will start at Charlton Sports Centre (SP10 3LF). The 10K and 5K routes will go past Charlton Lake and the 10K will continue on to Anton Lake taking in the beautiful and peaceful scenery of the backwaters of Andover. Anton Lake is situated just north of Andover town centre and was designated a Local Nature Reserve in 1996. The 2K will be run around the athletics track and sports fields at Charlton.
All three runs will finish in front of Charlton Athletics Pavilion – hopefully to much cheering from family, friends and other supporters!
The Andover foodbank gives emergency food and support to people in crisis in and around Andover. It relies on financial donations to enable it to help those in need.
You can support the Andover foodbank by joining us on Sunday 16th September. You can register for the 10K and 5K runs on the ‘Race Entry’ tabs at the top of the page. You can also enter a team of up to 10 – more on that in the coming weeks.
If you would like to raise money for the sponsorship please use our sponsor form or create an online fundraising page through MyDonate. It is free and easy to do and we will be able to benefit from gift aid too! You can follow us on Twitter and facebook to receive updates and information.
If you don’t want to run but want to be involved why not act as a marshal or collect money on the day? Please contact the foodbank office on 01264 362111 if you would like to find out more about volunteering to help.
We will continue to update you on the run. You can follow us on facebook by clicking here…
We look forward to seeing you on September 16th!
