About the Run

home_charity2_sep2

Following the success of the first Andover foodbank Lake Run in 2016, we are delighted to announce that there will be a Lake Run this year.

Last year we had over 300 runners for the two races and Vassos Alexander, the sports presenter, opened the race, ran 10k and then presented prizes donated by Alton Sports. It was a fantastic day, the sun shone and all the runners were well supported by family and friends. In addition, over £6,000 was raised for the foodbank.

This year the Lake Run will take place on Sunday 17th September 2017. There will be two races: a new and improved 10K and a 5K.

The runs will start at Charlton Sports Centre (SP10 3LF). Both runs will go past Charlton Lake and the 10K will continue on to Anton Lake taking in the beautiful and peaceful scenery of the backwaters of Andover. Anton Lake is situated just north of Andover town centre and was designated a Local Nature Reserve in 1996.

The 10k and 5k will finish in front of Charlton Athletics Pavilion – hopefully to much cheering from family, friends and other supporters!

The Andover foodbank gives emergency food and support to people in crisis in and around Andover. It relies on financial donations to enable it to help those in need.

You can support the Andover foodbank by joining us on Sunday 17th September. You can register for the 10K and 5K runs on the ‘Race Entry’ tabs at the top of the page. If you would like to join as a part of a team find out about team entry under the ‘latest race news’ section of the website.

If you would like to raise money for the sponsorship please use our sponsor form or create an online fundraising page through MyDonate. It is free and easy to do and we will be able to benefit from gift aid too! You can follow us on Twitter and facebook to receive updates and information.

If you don’t want to run but want to be involved why not act as a marshal or collect money on the day? Please contact the foodbank office on 01264 362111 if you would like to find out more about volunteering to help.

We will continue to update you on the run. You can follow us on facebook by clicking here…

We look forward to seeing you on September 17th!
